Mumbai: The RBI will shortly issue Rs 500 notes with the rupee symbol. The Rs 500 notes will be of the Mahatma Gandhi-2005 Series bearing the signature of RBI Governor D Subbarao and with the year of printing mentioned on the back of the banknote,RBI said.

A special CBI court in Chandigarh on Friday sent Punjab Deputy Inspector General Harcharan Singh Bhullar to 14 days of judicial custody in a bribery case. The 2009-batch IPS officer was produced before the court of Special Judge Sushil Kumar Garg after completion of his medical examination. His co-accused, alleged middleman Kirshanu Sharda, was also brought along amid tight security.
