TN nod projects worth R24,230 cr
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Friday gave its nod to various industrial projects involving a total investment of Rs 24,230 crore. The projects were from Indian Oil Corporation,Mahindra & Mahindra,Apollo Tyres,Madras Cements,Samsung India and 10 other companies,an official release said here. Through these investments,over 15,000 jobs are expected to be created in the state,it said. Deputy chief minister M K Stalin presented the contingency expenses and the government orders to the respective company officials at the Secretariat,it said.
Empee unveils Hilton Chennai
chennai: Diversified business firm Empee Group on Friday unveiled its first five-star hotel Hilton Chennai that would be operated by UK-based Hilton Hotels and Resorts. The 204-room hotel,built on 42 grounds (one ground is approximately 2,400 square feet) of land by Empee group,was the first in the city which would be managed and operated by Hilton,Empee Group chairman Purushothaman said. Empee Group has invested Rs 400 crore in the project in which 150 rooms would be added in the next phase,he said.
JSPL plans steel plant in Orissa
Bhubaneswar: Optimistic of commissioning the proposed 6 million tonnes per annum steel project in Orissa by 2013,Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) on Friday said it would keep enhancing the plants capacity to make it the worlds biggest steel plant. We will be able to achieve the capacity of 6 mtpa steel plant by 2013, JSPL executive vice-chairman and managing director Naveen Jindal told reporters.
