The BJP has decided to forward the name of Murli Manohar Joshi to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar for his appointment as the chairman of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) after the term of the incumbent Gopinath Munde comes to an end, sources disclosed here on Friday. Munde was made the chairman of PAC some two months ago when the BJP managed to get Jaswant Singh out of the job. The BJP had made it clear at the time that it would revisit the issue by the end of March.
Ex-finance minister Yashwant Sinha is tipped to succeed Joshi as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance. Sinha is currently a member of the PAC. He could be an obvious choice for heading the PAC,but the party, cross with him for writing a letter critical of senior leader (which found its way to media),denied him the post after Jaswant Singhs exit. Instead, deputy leader of the party in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde was picked up. Joshi, according to the sources, had shown his keenness to chair the PAC.
