The BJP has welcomed the Supreme Court decision giving way to pronouncement of the verdict in the Ayodhya title suits case, while hinting that it could still take the legal route for redressal.

Projecting business as usual on Tuesday, with its top brass meeting to pick up candidates for the Bihar polls,BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the apex court’s decision ended the “atmosphere of uncertainty” and added that whatever the verdict of the high court will be,“there is a legal process ahead ”. The party also appealed to the people to maintain peace and calm.

The RSS too showed restraint and welcomed the Supreme Court decision. “The Supreme Court has done the right thing. A deliberate attempt was made to derail the judicial process by approaching the Supreme Court,” RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said.

Senior VHP leader Praveen Togadia said the outfit’s stand is based on the decisions taken by a high-powered body of sants. “We will not allow construction of a new mosque within the religious borders of Ayodhya,” he said.

At the same time,VHP chief Ashok Singhal said peace should prevail irrespective of the nature of the verdict.

Sources said the finer points of the Sangh’s plan of action would be worked out only after the the judgment.
