The Supreme Courts ruling upholding the bail plea of Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case and allowing him to travel to Gujarat brought cheers to the BJP,which asserted that the party was firmly behind Shah. BJP president Nitin Gadkari,in fact,announced the ruling during the national council meet ahead of taking up the discussion on partys economic resolution and got him felicitated by party veteran LK Advani. Several cases have been falsely filed against Amit Shah. We are strongly contesting against those cases in the court … Party will continue to stand firmly behind him, Gadkari asserted.

A BJP office and security vehicle were set on fire. Activist Sonam Wangchuk urged for a peaceful approach. The demand for Sixth Schedule status is due to Ladakh's tribal-majority population and direct central administration.
