April-July indirect tax intake up 46%

“There was maximum growth in customs collections which increased more than 70 per cent during this period,” it said.

Revenue collection from customs during the four month period stood at Rs 41,545 crore,a rise of 70.8 per cent when compared to the corresponding period last fiscal.

It was followed by 42.8 per cent rise in central excise collections at Rs 38,260 crore during the period. Service tax collections rose to Rs 16,418 crore in the fiscal till July,an increase of 11.8 per cent over the year-ago period.
