A student held his former professor captive at knifepoint for over two hours at her house at Sola Road in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The Ahmedabad Police rescued professor Sheetal Chavda after a two-and-half hour operation. The accused was identified as one Dharmendra Gupta from Jabalpur who was a student of the Institute of Computer Accountants in Indore where Chavda was a professor. Sheetal had reportedly lodged a complaint against Gupta over the issue of a fake identity on a social networking site. Joint Commissioner of Police Satish Sharma said,He went inside and had held four women captive including Sheetals neighbour who was in her house in the afternoon. He was threatening to kill Sheetal. The professor had complained against him and he was facing charges of cyber crime. He appeared to be in trouble due to the complaint but he is under arrest now. After knowing all the facts about the case,the police will take the case further. The police added that he claimed that Sheetal had bribed the Indore Police to lodge a fake case against him. There is suspicion that he may have been attracted to Sheetal leading to him stalk her.
