After school,MNS youth workers attack varsity

“The decision to introduce Social Science as an option was taken by the Faculty of Arts board of studies to benefit those students who do not study languages at the junior college level,” said a university official.

But the delegation led by MNVS president Aditya Shirodkar submitted a letter opposing the decision. “How can they give a third option to those students? Either they should study the state language or the national language,” said vice-president Chetan Pednekar. MNVS workers also demanded that all the circulars of the university should be published in Marathi along with English.

While the meeting was on,some MNVS activists clashed with security personnel outside. “The securitymen stopped some of our activists who wanted to enter the premises. In the fracas,there was some damage to the property of the university,” said Chetan Pednekar.

Six members of the MNVS were arrested. “They broke the glass door of the Registrar’s chamber and smashed glass bottles outside the university’s gate. Some of the glass shards hit the security personnel,” said police officials.
