He would be confined to a coffin bed a 6X3 box all day and allowed out once for a frugal meal. He would get beaten up quite often. And this happened every single day of the past two and a half years that he spent in captivity in a Porbandar house,he told the police. Rajan Killaker was rescued from a locked room in the house on Saturday by the Porbandar police,which acted on receiving an anonymous letter. The police were on the lookout for a property dealer and his family who allegedly kept the 41-year-old Killaker,a biotechnology scientist who used to run chalk manufacturing unit in Porbandar,in captivity for his property,believed to be worth a few crores. A case of kidnapping,abduction,seizing property,conspiracy and various sections of loot has been lodged against nine persons including Hitesh Karavadra,his wife Jyoti,mother Haraben and other accomplices. The main accused and his other family members have gone missing. But the police will nab them very soon, said Porbandar crime branch police inspector and investigating officer Jaydeepsinh Sarviya. The police added that Killaker has been under medical supervision,ever since his release. According to Killakers complaint to the police,he used to live alone at his Porbandar apartment and had some property in his name. On December 14,2007,Karavadar called him to his residence near the airport to discuss a property deal. After he reached Karavadars home,he was hit on the head with a baseball bat and hid in the coffin under the bed ever since. Killakar told the police that on the first day the Karavadars and other accused took away his cellphone,debit card,Rs 1,100 cash that he was carrying,wrist watch,a diamond ring and his motorbike. Besides,the accused also took away the keys of Killakers apartment. Besides,the accused forced him to sign papers of power of attorney to sell his property. Killaker also told the police that he was compelled to sign many blank papers. According to the police,Killakers disappearance went unnoticed as he was unmarried and hardly kept in touch with his family. Killakar was rarely in touch with his family a brother who lived outside the state and three married sisters. We have learnt that he hardly used to speak to them,once in a year or two, a police officer said. The case surfaced after Porbandar SP Dipankar Trivedi received an anonymous letter last week. The letter claimed Killaker had been killed by Karavadar for his property. When the police began investigation,Killarkars neighbours said they had not seen him in a long time. When the police raided the property dealers home,he was found locked up in a room.
