Almost all graduates of ITIs running centre of excellence programmes are being employed in the market,the Rajya Sabha was informed today. "According to the performance evaluation of ITIs conducted by Quality Council of India in January 2011,graduates from government ITIs getting employment has been about 60 per cent. "However,it has been up to 99 per cent in case of it is running centre of excellence courses," Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said. In a written reply to a question,he said the reason for the rest not getting employed could be because they are opting for apprenticeship training,have lack of close linkages with the industry or due to lack of quality training. The Minister said large number of vacancies of trainers in ITIs could also be one of the reasons why the rest are not getting jobs. To another question,he said,employment in the organised sector has gone up from 2.82 crore in March 2009 to 2.87 crore in March 2010,an increase of 1.9 per cent over the previous year.
