Assam will soon have 20 community radio stations with the state Government agreeing to provide the necessary financial assistance for the same. Launching the first community temporary radio station in the state here on Wednesday,Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the state would have to catch up with the rest of the country very fast in the field of development and community radio would provide the necessary support for it. Announcing this during the sixth Regional Consultation of Community Radio Awareness for setting up community radio in the state,Gogoi said his Government would immediately give Rs 10 lakh to facilitate operationalisation of community radio in the state. More funds would follow,he added.
