KOCHI, JAN 12: The possibility of a truce between the warring factions of the Congress before the Assembly elections seems to have increased with All India Congress Committee ICC general secretary Gulam Nabi Azad agreeing to look into suggestions put forth by senior leader K Karunakaran during their one-hour talk in Kochi today.
In a closed-doormeeting at Karunakaran;s daughters residence, the leader requested to Azad that the Youth Congress in the state be revamped. He also proposed that 30 per cent of the seats be given to youth as well as newcomers in the party besides reserving seats for women and the weaker sections.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is also in charge of party affairs in the state, has reportedly assured the veteran leader that he would initiate similar talks with Opposition leader A K Antony in strengthening the party. He may hold a meeting again with Karunakaran on January 14.
