A day after a J&K Dy SP was arrested for his alleged role in the Srinagar sex abuse scandal, options were running out for a BSF DIG and a senior advocate wanted by the CBI in the case.
Srinagar’s Chief Judicial Magistrate issued non-bailable arrest warrants against BSF DIG K S Padhi, presently posted in Silchar in Assam, and Anil Sethi, former Additional Advocate General of J&K.
The two had not turned up before the CBI for a test identification parade before a minor girl who named 11 persons as her alleged rapists.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court today declined to entertain Padhi’s plea to restrain the CBI from arresting him when he appears before them for the identification parade. He was asked to approach the J&K High Court which is hearing a PIL on the case.
The SC’s vacation bench, comprising Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice C K Thakker, also rejected the plea of J&K Dy SP Mohammed Ashraf Mir who was arrested after an identification parade yesterday.
Mir had challenged the J&K HC order that no bail application or any other plea relating to the case will be entertained by any subordinate court without bringing the fact to its notice.
