CHANDIGARH, Aug 18: Taking up the case against the "conspirators" allegedly involved in an attempt to assassinate former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal case, UT Additional District and Sessions Judge S. S. Lamba, today, issued production warrants against Jagtar Singh Hawara, Balwant Singh and Paramjit Singh for October 9.Lodged in Model Jail Burail in former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassination case, the trio cannot be taken out of the prison complex, following a notification by the Chandigarh Administration under Section 268 of the Criminal Procedure Code.Meanwhile, in an application submitted before the court, eight other accused in the case, sought the trial's expeditious disposal.Claiming to have been falsely implicated, the accused added that they were facing the trial for over two-and-a-half years now, but no substantial progress had been made in the case.It may be recalled that the case was registered in December 1995 after the accused allegedly opened fire upon a Haryana Police party, who had signalled them to halt.According to the police, constable Vijay Bhan died and ASI Mohinder Singh was injured in the firing while the accused fled leaving behind their tractor trolley. Twelve persons were subsequently arrested upon Mohinder Singh's statement.
