As the Government probes the security breach in the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW) and the National Security Council secretariat, the CBI’s chargesheet in the Naval war-room case cites 7000 pages of classified information to allege how top secret data, including plans of Air Force Operations as well as Army Headquarters, were “compromised’’ between 2002-2005.

The CBI, which is seeking an in-camera trial for the five it chargesheeted today, has listed data seized from computers and pen drives, transcripts of Skype conversations made by the accused via the Internet, several e-mails and chats that allegedly show transfer and receipt of classified information between the chargesheeted persons.

Sources told The Indian Express that instead of one, three pen drives were handed over to the CBI in March. Of them, two were recovered from S L Surve, dismissed IAF Wing Commander, and one from Vijender Rana, dismissed Naval Commander. One pen drive handed over by Surve had been electronically tampered with and all files were deleted. These were analysed with help of experts from the Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory,

According to the CBI’s case, the salient information that was illegally passed on to defence agents Ravi Shankaran and Kulbhushan Parashar include:

Details of the Navy’s communication network including the network connecting warships and submarines.

Navy and IAF’s proposals for disputed territories and disputed border areas.

Perspective plans for India’s air defence systems and proposals for next generation upgrades and war-gaming.

Deployment details of Navy and IAF, including presentations made by top Commanders to Defence Chiefs.

Army’s deployment patterns and assessments of areas of vulnerability.

Border deployment details of the Border Security Force and future deployment proposals.

CBI officials said hard-disks from the offices and residences of the three officers (the third is Vinod Kumar Jha) as well as from the LAN (Local Area Network) of the War Room were also carried to Hyderabad and the ‘‘uncompromised’’ files in the LAN were viewed.
