BULAWAYO, March 14: Zimbabwe struggled to 151 for five despite a resolute 69 not out by opener Grant Flower on a truncated opening day of the first Test match against Pakistan at Queens Sports Club today.Fast bowler Waqar Younis, generating impressive late swing, took 3-62 and with fellow pacemen Shoaib Aktar returning 1-18 and Azhar Mahmood 1-26, Zimbabwe struggled to take consistent headway on a good pitch.Steady morning rain delayed the scheduled start by two and a half hours and Zimbabwe may well rue their decision to bat first in overcast conditions.Waqar had the home side reeling at 15 for two when he had both openers Dirkie Viljoen and Murray Goodwin caught behind off late away-swingers for no score.Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell threatened a swashbuckling recovery when he hammered Waqar for three fours in just two overs but his dismissal for 15 left his team precariously placed at 38 for three in the 14th over. But the Flower brothers then added 77 runs for a solid fourth-wicketresistance either side of tea before Andy pushed at a Shoaib Aktar delivery to be caught behind for an aggressive 44. He had been at the wicket for two and a quarter hours, faced 97 balls and struck eight fours. Two overs later, Grant Flower reached his ninth Test 50 when he back-cut Shoaib for his fourth boundary.
