MOGA, July 12: The Punjab State Services Federation units of Moga, Faridkot, Muktsar and Ferozepur, at a convention held in Moga, on Friday, appealed to the state government to bring present and former ministers, MLAs, MPs and heads of all the departments under the jurisdiction of Lok Pal in order to check and stop corruption.
Charanjit Singh Walia, former MP and the federation’s state unit president, while presiding over the convention, urged the state government to give more powers to the Lok Pal so that corrupt officials could be dealt with firmly.
The convention expressed grave concern over the hike in prices of essential commodities and appealed to the state government and the Centre to take strict action against black marketeers.
The convention demanded that the state government fill up vacancies at all levels either by direct recruitment or through departmental committees immediately so that educated unemployed youths could get jobs. It also demanded an increase in retirement age of government employees to 60 years as per the Central government decision.
The convention also appealed to the state government to implement recommendations of the pay commission, including those concerning pensioners. The federation was satisfied with the recommendations of the pay commission, Walia said.
