CHANDIGARH, Nov 2: Western Air Command and Maintenance Command played a goalless draw in the opening match of the Indian Air Force Inter-Command hockey tournament at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.

During the championship, Air Force team will be selected which will take part in the Services Hockey tournament.

Training Command are pitted against Air Force Headquarters in the opening match tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. The two other matches billed for the second day are: Central Air Command vs Eastern Air Command (9 a.m) and South Western Air Command (9 a.m) vs Southern Air Command (10.30 a.m).

GMSSS-23 win
Government Model Senior Secondary-23 beat Govt Senior Secondary School-20, 4-2 via tie-breaker in the Chandigarh state Inter-School boys under-19 football tournament being played at GMSSS-23. The teams played a goalless draw in the regulation period.

In another match St Xavier School blanked Shishu Niketan-22, 3-0. Bhupinder shot twice while Amit got one for the winners.SD School-32 beat GMSS-22, 4-0 while DAV-8 thrashed GMS-19, 5-0 to enter the next round of the meet.

In the volleyball matches, being played at Shivalik Public School-41, SGGS-35 beat GNSSS-30, 15-9, 15-13, 15-9, to enter the final of the boys under-19 group. In the second semifinal, SPS-41 lost to DAV-8, 2-15, 7-15, 4-15.

In the under-14 section, Govt Model High School-26 beat DAV-8, 11-15, 15-9, 15-9, 15-6 while Govt High School-32 defeated GSSS-27, 15-6, 15-4, 15-5.
