VADODARA, July 2: Continuing its drive against illegal construction, the Anti-encroachment Squad of the VMC on Thursday bulldozed some 18 shops, including the three floors of the known Maharashi Study Centre, an office and a restaurant in the Karelibaug area.While the shops and the study centre were flattened between Avkar Hall and Karelibaug Water Tank Circle for they had constructed in the margin area, an office and a restaurant were demolished in the backyard of the Konark Complex near Ambalal Char Rasta near Charbhuja Complex. The construction in this case were made in the space deemed `open'.The squad also removed sign-boards and kiosks as well as recovered administrative expenses from shop-keepers throwing garbage on the road. The VMC, according to official sources, is also recovering expenses for those who dump sand on the road in different areas.
