LILLE, Sept 2: Vinod Sharma and Alok Sadhu of India entered the final of the Societe General Open pairs of the tenth World Bridge Championships at the Grand Palais here last night.

Delhi’s Sharma, who had formed a scratch partnership with Calcutta’s Sadhu here, was always in contention for a berth in the final, but five other pairs failed to make the grade. Sharma-Sandhu finished 58th with an aggregate score of 210.45 per cent out of 400 per cent, as four sessions were played.

In the Open teams event for the Vivendi Rosenblum Cup, Italy which had dominated world bridge from the 1950 through the 1970s, claimed its first title since 1975 when they defeated Brazil by 70 International Match Points in the 56-board final.
