The Vice-Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad Agricultural Univeristy in Kanpur, where the Mayawati government had prevented Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from interacting with students, on Tuesday resigned from his post.

Vice-Chancellor V K Suri gave his resignation to university Chancellor and Uttar Pradesh Governor Rajeswar who had expressed his displeasure over the way in which Gandhi’s visit was cancelled after the Congress leader was prevented from having a meeting with the students on October 24.

The university auditorium, where Rahul was to address the students, was locked, he, however, met them at the university cafetaria.

The Governor took a serious view of the cancellation of Rahul’s programme and had also cancelled his visit to univeristy on the same day for convocation.
