LUCKNOW, JANUARY 7: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) have outrightly rejected the ``mutal talk'' formula on the Babri Masjid issue rendering the exercise initiated between BJP MP Vinay Katiyar and Mohammad Hashim, a litigant in the Babri case, to find a way out of the impasse meaningless. While the BMAC at its emergency meeting on Sunday made it clear that theissue could not be solved through negotiations and the only mode of settlement was through adjudication, the VHP chief Ashok Singhal claimed that the job of temple construction was only awaiting the verdict of saints to be given at the dharam sansad beginning on January 19 at the Mahakumbh site in Allahabad.``Did Babar come with a court verdict to raze the temple at Ayodhya? He wasan invader and a trespasser and an invader has no claim anywhere. We havenot shut doors on negotiations but we do not feel that such exercise willdeliver results,'' said Singhal while talking to the media at the ShishuMandir in Lucknow on Sunday afternoon.Muslim leaders at a meeting have urged secular parties and allies of the BJP to pass a resolution in Parliament and state assemblies requesting the High Court and the Supreme Court to expedite hearing of the Babri case and give a final decision within a year or so. They also sought the Prime Minister's resignation for stating that temple construction movement was an expression of national sentiment.Singhal, however, was more critical of the ``talk formula'' saying that thenegotiators (Muslims) back out when asked whether a temple existed at the site before 1528. ``They are backed by communists who are unadulteratedtraitors. We had tried to find a way out of the impasse through negotiationsthree times but talks failed on the simple history of what existed therebefore 1528,'' he said.Singhal has given clear indications that the VHP would not even accept thecourt verdict if it decided against the construction of the temple. ``Saints are supreme for us. The structure was razed with their blessings and the temple is going to be built. The job may start after March as we have informed the saints that stones for the pillars of the proposed temple will be prepared by March 31,'' he said.Muslim leaders have warned that consequences could be more dangerousthan the demolition if any attempt was made to start construction at theacquired land. ``The issue has been raised with the sole motive of gettingelectoral benefit but this will not be allowed and even allies of the BJPwould not be spared if any attempt was made,'' said Zafaryab Jilani, convenorof the BMAC.
