VADODARA, July 19: Student union leaders went on a rampage at the M S University’s Faculty of Arts on Monday, destroying furniture at the faculty main building. The leaders have demanded that those students who were unable to submit their forms should be given a chance. Dean Maya Shah, however, has said that the faculty office would remain closed on Tuesday. She added that the staff would come to the university, but as long as there was no security, it would be difficult to work.
The faculty has distributed as many as 1,600 forms and has given admissions to 950 students already. The final list would be displayed at the faculty notice board on July 22.
Reacting to the students’ demand, Shah said “It cannot be catered to as I have to keep some seats for those students who will clear their supplementary examinations in August.” She said that the Padra college principal had already agreed to keep seats for students taking the supplementary test.
The students, meanwhile, claimed that there were still a lot of vacancies in the faculty and the number of students given admissions this year was less than last year.
