Valentina says Nayar hasn’t filed for divorce

All that the 33-year old blonde – no, she’s not an Italian model – admits to saying is this, ‘‘I am happy for the past 10 years of love that I’ve had with Arun and I just want to avoid any type of conflict that would harm both of us. I have learned a lot about love and devotion in my work for charity and it is absurd that I would lose those principles now.’’

Pedroni, the daughter of a very respected family in Italy – her father is a heart surgeon and mother, a real estate agent – first gave this quote to the British tabloid News of the World, after which she claims to have seen various versions of it in other papers.

‘‘The press has misconstrued everything,’’ a close confidante of Pedroni told The Indian Express with the Italian’s permission.

The truth, Pedroni says, has been lost in the tabloid rat race for a meatier scoop. Primarily, there have been no talks of a divorce at all. ‘‘Valentina is not an angry woman,’’ says another friend. ‘‘If Arun wants a divorce she will give it to him.’’ But the truth is that Arun Nayar, Valentina’s husband of seven years, has not yet asked her for a legal divorce. If he did, Pedroni’s friends insist, she would gladly give it to him.

Friends also insist that Valentina did not come to India to finalise the divorce but to take her dogs, a Labrador and a Beagle, with her. They also say that she is not a model as portrayed by the meida but is the CEO of Muffins and Berries, a textile merchandising firm.

They nailed another, and the most twisted, media claim that Valentina and Liz Hurley were friends before Hurley snatched Nayar. Hurley was in fact introduced to Valentina by her husband first.

At that time, Nayar and Hurley were just acquaintances. Valentina is considering releasing an official statement in a few days.
