Valasaravakkam residents in grip of fear

CHENNAI, April 12: Valasaravakkam, on the western outskirts of the City, is increasingly falling prey to criminal activities. Emboldened by the lack of police action, the criminals do not hesitate to show themselves even in daylight, and residents of the area are gripped by a feeling of fear and insecurity. Chain-snatchings have become common in the area, and a number of cases of burglary have also been reported. Police say they can be of more help if residents cooperated, especially by joining night patrols.
