NAGPUR, DECEMBER 22: The 200 vacant posts of medical officers in State would be soon filled up through examinations conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, Digvijay Khanvilkar, State Health minister, assured here on Sunday.

The Minister was speaking at a function organised on the premises of the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) here to inaugurate the departments of Gynaecology and Pediatrics, which were restarted at IGMC. The Minister also administered polio drops of children to formally launch the second phase of the annual pulse polio drive.

Speaking further on the occasion, the Minister sanctioned grant for a incinerator to be installed on IGMC premises. He assured that he would also look into the matter of grant for a CT Scan machine for the hospital. Khanvilkar said that new departments are being started to provide better health services to the citizens. Modern gadgets are being provided to the hospital for this purpose, he added.

Anees Ahmed, Minister of State for Higher andTechnical Education and T C Benjamin, secretary, Department of Medical Education, Drugs, were present on the occasion. Guests were welcomed by Dr W B Tayade, dean of IGMC.

Prominent among those present on the occasion were Dr S N Patil, OSD, Superspeciality Hospital, Dr P R Singh, civil surgeon.
