The CBI on Thursday questioned the publisher of a book that alleges corruption and interference in the country’s external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing. The CBI questioned V K Garg of Manas Publications for nearly two hours about the book India’s External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW, written by Maj Gen V K Singh (retd). It has booked Singh for violating the Official Secrets Act.The publisher was asked about his meetings with the author, including when they first met and whether they had tried to verify if the material being published had any information that would affect national security.Garg, who informed CBI that he did not find anything wrong in printing the book, is learnt to have asked the agency what was the secret that the author had disclosed in the book. He also wanted to know why the CBI was targeting the author, who had exposed corruption, but was not acting against the officers and cases mentioned in the book.The CBI has already questioned V K Singh twice. He has been booked under Section 5 (wrongful communication of information) of the Official Secrets Act. The CBI had also carried out searches at the office of Garg on September 22.
