CHANDIGARH, JULY 19: To help provide various facilities, concessions and loans to the disabled in the Union Territory, the Chandigarh Administration has appointed Finance Secretary as Commissioner incharge of various functions with respect to matters relating to deprivation of rights of persons with disabilities.Though the Administration is already providing various facilities to the disabled in the UT, anyone in need of assistance can contact the office of Directorate of Social Welfare in Sector 17.The persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995, granting equal rights to the handicapped in different spheres of life is already in force in UT.
