CHANDIGARH, May 25: Advisor to the UT administration Jagdish Sagar today visited Colony No. 4 to listen to the grievances of the residents. He was accompanied by Mayor Gian Chand Gupta, Municipal Commissioner S. K. Gathwal, Deputy Commissioner K. K. Khandelwal and other senior officers.

Sagar appreciated the demand of the residents that lot of work was required to be done in the colony, inhabited by about 40,000 people. The administration had conducted a survey of the colony to ascertain ways to improve the basic amenities in the area, he said. The administration has also decided to earmark more funds this year for augmenting the facilities and equipment in the schools of colonies and villages in the union territory, Sagar said.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (B) presented a memorandum to Sagar highlighting the basic requirements of the people. Their demands included provision of rooms, drinking water, post-office and kerosene outlet in the colony.

They also said that the school and the dispensary in the colony were under-staffed. A senior official, when contacted, said the engineering department has been asked to provide water and electricity to the school on priority basis.
