Islamabad, December 6: The military regime today announced that the anti-terrorism courts under the amended anti-terrorist act to try deposed Pakistani premier Sharif would be set up in couple of days, while dismissing criticism on the amendment.

Judges under the anti-terrorist act “shall be appointed in consultation with the chief justices of the concerned high courts”, Law Minister Aziz Munshi said during informal talks with journalists in the supreme court.

“The new amendment ensures more transparency, balance and independence", Munshi said.

He rejected criticism on the amendment to the anti-terrorist act saying, “this is a wrong impression that change in the act was made keeping in view a certain case or cases".

Munshi said the allegations against the amended act was being made without reading it.
