CHANDIGARH, July 22: Union Ministry of Home Affairs Additional Secretary M. P. Singh and S. P. Sharma, consultant to the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, will visit the three Directorates of Census Operations, namely Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, to review their preparations for the 2001 census.

According to the figures released by the Directorates of Census Operations, about 50,000 enumerators and 10,000 supervisors will be detailed for the Punjab census, whose population in 2001 is projected as 2.38 crore. About 41,000 enumerators and 8,000 supervisors will be detailed for the Haryana census, whose population is projected at 2 crore; and about 2,000 enumerators and 400 supervisors will be detailed for Chandigarh census, whose population is projected at 9 crore.
