Two unidentified passengers drove away a luxury tourist car after dumping the driver near Kanpara village on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway.

According to the Panshila police, the incident occurred early morning on Friday when Ibrahim Ismail of Makwana society on Hapa Road, had started his journey from Jamnagar in the Toyota Innova owned by one Altaf Isani, to pick up passengers from Ahmedabad airport. On the outskirts of the city, two passengers aged between 30-35 years boarded the car to Ahmedabad.

When they reached near Kanpara village near Limbdi, both the passengers forcibly made Ismail snuff some chemical after which he became unconscious. He was later dumped on the road and the miscreants fled with the car. The Panshila police have registered a complaint of robbery of a car worth Rs 5.5 lakh against two unidentified persons.

Earlier, a few similar cases had occurred when cars of private travel operators were robbed and in some cases, the drivers were killed.
