Back in the Capital here today after her ‘‘Ram-and-Roti yatra’’, Uma Bharati vowed to ‘‘uproot the pseudo-BJP, hijacked by a gang of 40-odd leaders’’, described Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani as ‘‘helpless non-performers’’ and announced her plan to launch a party after three months.

Bharati, who was speaking at a meet-the-press programme at the Press Club, said she would not rest untill she had eliminated ‘‘these 40-50 foreign elements’’ from the BJP. ‘‘From now on, my focus will be on next Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal where we would form governments.’’

When asked to give an instance of the helplessness of Vajpayee and Advani, she said the latter had agreed to flag off her yatra against farmers’ suicides from March 12, 2005. Maintaining that BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley was the convenor of the yatra, she was told a week later that she had to drop the plan.

Charging Advani with the use of Ram and Ayodhya for poll gains, she said she had advised him against undertaking the ‘‘rath yatra’’ in 1990 as political leaders should not take the lead in religious matters.

When asked if she expected Kalyan Singh to join her, she said that he was in the same league as Vajpayee and Advani. ‘‘I am too small that he would join me. I am grateful that he still remains affectionate towards me. He is very bold and courageous and never hesitates from speaking the truth.’’

Referring to MP chief ministership, she sought to know what was her crime if she had sought the job. ‘‘After all, I was seeking my own baby, earned through sweat and blood. It (the denial of top post) was like stealing my baby and giving it to someone else.’’

Ridiculing the composition of Rajnath Singh’s new team, she said, ‘‘It is like a Bania’s shop where same sacks have been moved from one place to another.’’ The new BJP chief, according to her, had to clarify his ideological position vis-a-vis Jinnah. ‘‘Who is the real party—the Opposition Leader praising Jinnah in Pakistan or the party president swearing by Hindutva outside Jhandewalan (RSS headquarters here)?’’
