A delegation of Congress and BSP legislators on Thursday met Uttarakhand Governor B L Joshi and requested him to intervene and resolve the stalemate between the Opposition and the ruling BJP in the state Assembly.
Opposition members stalled proceedings in the House for three consecutive days demanding discussion on the issues of caste certificates and the lathicharge on teachers. However, the Speaker had disallowed their request leading to a stalemate in the House.
On Wednesday, the Opposition members finally walked out of the House and decided to boycott the entire Budget Session of the Assembly against the adamant attitude of the Khanduri Government.
In a memorandum to the Governor, the Opposition MLAs alleged that they were not allowed to raise important public issues and urged the Governor to immediately intervene in restoring the democratic rights of the legislators.
