U D Prabhu inches closer to title

Meanwhile, V Natarajan of Dehu Road scored a straight set 6-1, 6-1 victory over V Harchekar of MTPF, Ambernath to get the honour of being the first one to enter the veterans singles final.

In the open doubles section, Lt A A Pednekar and S A Hamid booked a berth for the final defeating V Reddy and Srinivas Raju 6-2, 6-3. They will take on K Jograj and R Rajrajan, a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Suresh Babu and A Bose, in the title clash.
