NEW DELHI, Jan 8: A 38-year-old commission agent, Bal Kishan and his 25-year-old brother Anil were stabbed by the vice president of the local vegetable traders association at the Tomato Shed in the Azadpur Vegetable Market in North-West Delhi this evening.

According to eye witnesses the incident occurred when a vice president of the vegetable traders association, Ram Kumar, came to a shop along with his brother Bhola Pehelwan and his brother-in-law Gopal around 4:30 p.m. and stabbed Bal Kishan and his brother.

A local trader, Narender, the owner of the shop said: “Bal Kishan and his brother were standing near my shop, Ram Kumar had an altercation with them and his brother Gopal pulled out a knife and stabbed him. Then Ram Kumar hit him with a farsa, we tried to save them but we were pushed back by their men,” he said.

The trader was stabbed thrice, and receieved stab wounds on his head, behind his neck, and hip while his brother recieved a wound on his leg. The local commission agents’ said Ram Kumar had unleashed a reign of terror and allegedly extracted lakhs of rupees from the market in the name of the local police. They say that he had also forcibly occupied a number of centrally located shops in the vegetable market. According to them even the doctors at Hindu Rao Hospital acted under pressure and discharged the victim after primary first-aid. The agents say that they are scared to go back to the market as they are afraid of Ram Kumar and his associates. They allege that police was trying to hush up the case, as they were hand-in-glove with Ram Kumar. Area DCP, Satyendra Garg said: “Medical examination of the victim revealed that the injury is minor. We had arrested Ram Kumar and Gopal but they have been bailed out. If any of my men are involved, I’ll take action.”
