JAMMU, July 29: Two of the nine militants involved in the massacre of 16 people in two different incidents in Kishtwar tehsil of hilly Doda district on Tuesday were gunned down by the Army troops in a fierce encounter during the early hours of today. Meanwhile, indefinite curfew continued in Kishtwar town for the second consecutive day today, while it was relaxed for four hours from 2 pm in Bhaderwah during the day.All the eight victims killed at Sarwan were cremated near the village amidst tight security today, sources said. Also, those killed at Chana were cremated at Banarkot on Tuesday.The Union Home Secretary B P Singh, Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) Ram Mohan, State Chief Secretary Ashok Jaitly, State's Director General of Police Gurbachan Jagat, and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Delta Force C S Brar, visited Kishtwar to assess the situation.Giving details, sources said the slain militants belonged to the Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit. Two AK 47 rifles along withsome magazines and ammunition, besides some grenades and a wireless set was recovered from them.A local guide who was accompanying the slain militants was also injured in the encounter. However, he managed to escape. Sources said the killers, who were nine in number, divided themselves in two groups after killing eight people at Sarawan on Tuesday morning. While three ultras started trekking down towards Nawapachhi, the other six went upwards towards Bharaj. The three coming down from Sarawan were intercepted by the Army troops combing the area at Lohai Malhar.
