VADODARA, March 31: A two-day workshop on wetlands of Gujarat, to be held in the city, will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Environment and Forest Suresh Prabhu on April 30. The workshop, to be attended by a galaxy of environmentalists and scientists from different parts of the country, would be held at Narmada Guest House here.
The State director of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), India, Smita Pradhan told Express Newsline that all the top officials of the State forest department would also participate in the workshop.
Besides Prabhu, the State Principal Chief Conservator of Forests A P Mishra, Pradhan and Ranjitsingh Gaekwad would speak at the inaugural session while M S University faculty member Dr Bonny Pilo, conservator of forest (Wildlife) Mira Agarwal and Geer Foundation director H S Singh would present informative papers in the next session.
Other known speakers in the workshop included Shruti Sharma, Dr Asad Rehmani (Mumbai) and B C Chaudhary, besides experts from ISRO, Ahmedabad and environmental scientists from different parts of the country, Pradhan added.
