CHANDIGARH, July 22: With the spirit of patriotism still high among citizens, money continues to flow in for the Kargil funds set up by the government.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of Government College for Girls, Sector 11, has donated a sum of Rs 1.16 lakh towards the welfare of the families of Kargil martyrs. The cheque was presented by K. A. P. Singh, DPI, Colleges, and Vijay Laxmi, GCG principal, to Vineeta Rai, Adviser to the UT Administrator.

Major D. P. Singh, principal of Government College, Sector 46, presented a cheque of Rs 27,200 on his and staff’s behalf as donation towards the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The employees of Animal Husbandary Department contributed Rs 16,705 towards the relief fund, while a cheque of Rs 1,00,011 was presented by S. Khorana, director principal, Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, to the Adviser.

Dr. Ambedkar Study Circle donated Rs 11,000 towards the Army Central Welfare Fund and the cheque was handed over to the Adviser by Mam Chand, general secretary. Another cheque of Rs 11,101 was presented by Ram Lal, president, Construction Workers Labour Union, while sarpanch Bahadur Singh of Rai Pur Kalan village gave a cheque of Rs 11,101 to the Adviser as contribution from the villagers.

The Manimajra Motor Traders Union contributed Rs 1 lakh to the relief fund and presented a cheque to Lt Gen. B. K. N. Chhibber today. A delegation comprising Hans Raj, president of the union and B. S. Makol, general secretary, said that another draft of Rs 1,25,000 had already been given by the union for the Army Central Welfare Fund.

The employees of Pest Control India have contributed Rs 1,000 towards Kargil Disabled Soldier Fund as a gesture of their support to the martyrs’ families.

The Inner Wheel Club of Panchkula has donated needful items to Western Command Hospital, and include night-suits, bed-sheets, toothpastes, towels, shaving creams, toothbrushes and soaps. A sum of Rs 11,000 has also been contributed by Istri Satsang Sabha towards the Army Central Welfare Fund.

City courts contribute
As a token of respect to the martyrs who laid down their lives to defend the frontiers, the officers and officials of the district courts donated a sum of Rs 31,000 towards the Army Central Welfare Fund.

86-yr-old disabled man donates Rs 51,000
City resident Harparkash Bahl has donated Rs 51,000 towards the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of Kargil martyrs. Bahl, who lives in Sector 18, is 86 years old and is handicapped, without any source of regular income. He, however, says that he is proud of the Army personnel’s service to the nation.

Panchkula chemists chip in Rs 18,902
Panchkula:
The Chemists Association of Panchkula has contributed a sum of Rs 18,902 towards the Chief Minister’s War Heroes Relief Fund. This was disclosed today by association president B. B. Singal.
