The Professional Golfers Tour of India (PGTI) has set up a further few lucrative events on its Tour calendar and is all set to add to its Rs 1.4 crore prize purse already disbursed. With these new assignments the total prize money for the fledgling Tour will cross Rs 3 crore.All this has attracted to the field Asian Tour regulars like Singapore's Lam Chih Bing, who is currently placed fifth on the PGTI Order of Merit and Myanmar's Zaw Moe. The big draws for the rest of the season are the Rs 60 lakh Solaris Open at the Bangalore Golf Club from February 22, and the Rs 70 lakh Crompton Greaves Open at the Bombay Presidency Golf Course (April 26-29). “We are proud of what we have been able to achieve this year as it is the PGTI's first season. This is just the beginning and it proves that the future for a Indian golf tour is very bright,” said Jyoti Randhawa, one on the board of directors of the Tour. Current PGTI Order of Merit leader Harmeet Kahlon said: “We are looking forward towards the rest of the season. There is great potential in our country for a successful and rich Indian tour and this is just the beginning.” The Chandigarh professional has already earned over Rs 11 lakh this season.There are smaller events as well, for example the Rs 20 lakh IOC Masters at Digboi from January 31-3, the first this year.
