NASHIK, JAN 3: Two groups of tribals clashed over grazing of a goat in the communally sensitive Sadadpada village of Peth tehsil late on Saturday. The police have arrested six persons and registered cross complaints.According to a complaint filed by a Christian tribal, Tukaram Vithu Dalvi, he was beaten up by Devram Ramji Dalvi, Hiraman Dalvi, Rahibai Dalvi, Bharati Dalvi, Tarabai Dalvi and Ramji Kashinath Dalvi, for following the Christian religious practices. A cross complaint has also been registered by Ramji Kashinath Dalvi alleging that Tukaram Vithu Dalvi, Chandrabai Tukaram Dalvi, Tulshiram Tukaram Dalvi, Laxman Tukaram Dalvi and Sitabai Kashiram Bhoi had assaulted him.According to the district superintendent of police Bhagwantrao More, the whole episode began when a goat belonging to Gangubai Mahale (sister of Ramji Dalvi) was found grazing in the field of Tukaram Dalvi. It led to a scuffle. He said that the situation was brought under control and things were being sorted out locally. He claimedthat it had nothing to do with religious hostility.
