NAGPUR, July 7: The Maharashtra unit of Indian Forests Service (IFS) Association is holding an emergent general body meeting here on Friday to discuss the transfer and posting policy of the State Government in the wake of recent transfer and posting of all India service officers through political pressure and manoeuvering.A section of IFA officers has already expressed their resentment and displeasure over the recent proposal of transfers and posting by drastically changing the original recommendations of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) office here. These officers appealed to others to boycott those colleagues who have succeeded to obtain `plum' postings through their clout. The proposed meeting is likely to be a stormy one as the PCCF, Jagir Singh, is reportedly disgusted over the recent happenings in the department and tendered his pre-matured retirement application to the ministry which was accepted. He is retiring from the service by the end of this month. Singh will be succeeded byBallal, the senior most chief conservator of forests (CCF) in the State. The meeting is also likely to adopt a resolution regarding a transfer and posting policy for the IFS officers which would be sent to the Chief Minister Manohar Joshi, chief secretary, Forest Minister Chandrakant Khaire and the forest secretary for consideration.Meanwhile, the Indian Express report (dated July 2, 1998) which exposed the proposal of massive transfers and posting through political pressure and manoeuvering is a topic among the IFS officers in the State. The chief minister and chief secretary Subramanium reportedly took a serious note about it and there was an indication that the entire proposal might be changed again.
