GUWAHATI, JANUARY 24: The United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) received a severe blow as a top leader dissociated himself from the organisation, official sources said.
Self-styled lieutenant Lohit Deori who was chief supervisor of the banned organisation severed his relations with the organisation recently following serious differences with other top leaders of the organisation.
Deori was a student leader when he joined the organisation in 1984. He was one of the first batch of ULFA members who went for arms training to Kachin in 1986. On return in 1988, he took charge as commandant of the arms wing in Nalbari district.
Sources indicated that one or two top leaders might have left the group following differences within the outfit.
