Sunil Lulla’s office is full of little personal touches, showing that this man has both a fun and a practical side. As Vice President, Marketing, UDV, Lulla has been in his Lower Parel office since he joined the company over six months ago, and says that much of the furniture in his room has travelled with him. "These wooden chairs belong to me. They are so comfy, you could sleep in them, not that I get a chance," he says.

And his table is full of all the necessary amenities a top professional will need, as well a Ganpati and a rather unusual knife collection. "I collect Ganpatis. There is such a mysterious story behind the deity, and I also think they are very artistic," he says. Next to the idol are knives, which Lulla says are just to be seen, not used. "They are blunt, you can use them to open envelopes and stuff, but that’s it," he says. While his desk surface may be full of interesting memorabilia, his drawers are empty. "I have everything I need out," he says. Lulla’s drawers are used more by hissecretary than himself — she finds them useful to store his paperwork.

To the right of his desk is a basketball hoop with a dust-bin beneath. Obviously, Lulla makes throwing rubbish into a bit of a basketball game. And under the desk are two large bags. Lulla says he has to travel a lot and keeping the bags makes it easy for him to pack all his papers quickly. And to the back of his office is a large poster. "That shows a range of the labels that UDV stocks," he says proudly. UDV has a whole host of national and internationally known spirits, from Malibu to VAT 69. And Lulla admits that working for UDV is fun, as he is not shy of the odd drink himself.
