The bail application of VHP leader Pravin Togadia, who is now in judicial custody, was rejected by a lower court here today and his judicial custody extended till April 30.Togadia, who was arrested for violation of prohibitory orders and defying ban on trident, was sent back to the Ajmer Central Jail, District Collector Niranjan Arya said.The bail application of the VHP leader, moved by his counsel Onkar Singh Lakhawat, was placed before the court, with defense counsel being S.M. Bajawa, the Collector said.Meanwhile, the RSS and the BJP have condemned the Rajasthan government’s action against Togadia. RSS general secretary Mohan Rao Bhagwat said: ‘‘I do not know the reasons for which he has been charged with sedition but Pravinbhai is not anti-national. Nor is the distribution of trishul sedition.’’BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan said the action against Togadia demonstrated a ‘‘mental bankruptcy of the Rajasthan government.’’ He said: ‘‘Trishul is not a weapon of mass destruction, but a symbol of devotion.’’
