The VHP-sponsored Rajasthan bandh against the arrest of its leader Pravin Togadia on charges of violating prohibitory orders and a ban on use of tridents today evoked poor response in parts of the state, a senior police official said here.
In Jaipur, shops in the Walled City markets downed their shutters but in the outskirts, shops were open and business was normal. Public transport, including mini-buses and roadways buses, were plying.
A report from Ajmer said there was complete bandh in the district. In some places, VHP/BJP activists were seen forcing shopkeepers to down their shutters.
