Despite orders that there should be no visitors after 8 pm in the Corbett National Park, a canteen worker who walked out of his room around midnight was attacked by a tigress last night. Mohan Pandey, a canteen worker, was badly mauled by a tigress in Corbett National Park area and was admitted to the Ramnagar Base hospital. He was later shifted to Sushila Memorial Hospital, Haldwani where his condition is reported to be stable. According to Deputy Director Corbett National Park Vivek Pandey, Pandey, a worker in Dikala Canteen, went out of his hut near Dikala rest house and was attacked by a tigress at 11.30 pm. The tigress left after his shouts attracted other canteen staff who came to his rescue. Pandey was badly injured in the thigh and abdomen areas and was taken to Ramnagar base hospital. He was later shifted to Haldwani hospital. Vivek said that the tigress had given birth to cubs last year and was probably injured now.
