DHARAMSALA, June 23: A large number of monks and nuns in the Tibetan township of McLeodganj today took out a candle light vigil march to mourn the death of Gills Banchard, a French who had committed self-immolation in support of the Tibetan cause about a week ago.Organised by the National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT), the procession ended its vigil at a sacred point in McLeodganj, where eight paths meet, and offered prayers for peace to the departed soul, as the monks and nuns also committed themselves for true contribution to the Tibetan struggle with Thubten Ngodup (first one to commit self-immolation) and Banchard setting an example, by sacrificing their lives. National Democratic Party of Tibet president Yeshi Phuntsuk, a monk, pledged in front of all the participants that ``Gills' sacrifice would not go waste and the Tibetans would follow the bravery action till independence of Tibet is not attained''. They also sent a condolence message to the family of Banchard in France.NAHAN: Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) along with Tibet Women's Association and Tibetan Freedom Movement of Paonta Sahib and Puruwala Tibetan settlement took out a candle light vigil peace March last night at Paonta to pay respect and gratitude to French national Blanchard who committed self-immolation for the freedom of Tibet.Vice president ofthe Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Paonta Sahib, Sonam Tsering, in a statement said that the Tibetan people of the region had expressed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family and urged the world leaders to come forward for the cause of Tibet and human rights.
