CHANDIGARH, June 14: Tibet Smarthan Yatra, which is being undertaken with an aim to espouse the cause of liberation of Tibet through non-violence, was given a warm welcome at Lala Lajpat Rai Bhawan here today.

The peaceful march that started from Delhi on June 11 is on its way to Dharamshala. While presiding over the function, former M.P. Pawan Kumar Bansal highlighted the need for providing independence to the countries still under colonial rule.

Ramesh Sharma, convenor of Gandhi Youth Baradari, criticized the exploitation of Tibeteans by the Chinese Government. Onkar Chandji, secretary, Servants of People’s Society, welcomed the Tibet Mukti Andolan Yatra. He criticised the “cultural invasion” of Tibet by the Chinese.
