AGARTALA, AUG 12: Police nabbed three insurgents and covered one countrymade gun while ultras released one kidnapped person in Tripura on Friday, police said here on Saturday.

Police arrested an insurgent of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) from Shobha Thakur Para in West Tripura district on Friday night who was involved in the killing of a local Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Aghore Debbarma about a fortnight ago, police said.

Police raided Kulai village in Dhalai district and arrested an NLFT insurgent.

Another insurgent of Borok National Council of Tripura (BNCT) was arrested from Gizacherra village of the same district, police said and added they were involved in different subversive activities in the respective areas.

Police raided a hideout at Batapura village of West Tripura district and recovered a countrymade gun and other explosives, police said.

However, the insurgents managed to escape from the hideout before police arrived.

Meanwhile, NLFT insurgents released one person abducted from Induria village of West Tripura district on August 1 along with four others. The remaining four are still in their captivity, police added.
